MAKING THE BEST OF WHAT WE HAVE

James 4:1-17 What causes quarrels, and what causes fights among you? Is it not this that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have to because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us"? ...

Studying the Word will teach us that having the best of everything is not as important as making the best of what we already have. Stop wanting what others have and be grateful for what you have. We pray for and focus on the wrong things; we need the Holy Spirit. 

Father, baptize us with the Holy Spirit that opens our hearts and minds to You. Lord, let the Holy Spirit Kindle a fire in us. That gives us a burning desire for Your Word. So we can obtain Your wisdom and the knowledge of how to implement You in our daily lives. Lord, let us not desire things that others have but be grateful for what we've been blessed with. Lord, give us eyes that see things from Your perspective and ears that hear Your instructions. So, Your word will manifest in our lives. Let Your Spirit help us in our weakness and our relationship with You. Lord, speak for us when we know not what to say. Let the Holy Spirit lead us in righteousness and help us serve Your purpose.
