When God tells us to love our enemies it does not mean we become instant friends with them again. Love comes in many forms and all forms of love, leads to the good of all involved. We speak of love in many different contexts and they all are different: the Love a mother has for her child is different than the love she has for her husband. The love we have for material objects is different than the love we have for people. The love between a Pastor and member is different than the love he has for his family; love of your dog or your cats, your country, your grandparentd, are all love but, different. We love both our parents, but most of us love our Mother more than our father, but, our love for both is strong. We can't forget the love we have for our sweethearts. Is there a common denominator for all these varieties of love? Jesus
Loving our enemies is what Jesus did as a human being, He treated everyone with respect and kindness, even those who wanted to kill Him. He did not hang out with them, but, when He was in there presence He, treated them, like He, would anyone else. “Matthew 3:43 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”G. K. Chesterton also said: “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.”— Difficult, yes, but eminently worth trying, especially in our world torn by enmity. In the mess we are in, we don’t have much to lose by trying anything. Who knows? To love our enemies may be our only way out."
Good morning, Father, thank You for a new day and thank You, in advance for our daily blessings. Lord, forgive us for falling short of Your mercy, grace, and favor. Thank You, for life, health, our Spiritual growth, all that You have done, and plan to do. Father, teach us how to love, like Christ did, even our enemies. Help us, treat everyone with understanding, compassion, and kindness, because You are all about love. So, open our hearts to those that have wronged us and those we have wronged, fill us with the love of the Spirit, to help us love and obey. Lord, we love You, because You first loved us, baptize us with Your Spirit, that will help us be submissive to, You, and loving to others, in Jesus name Amen
