(Luke 24:49)And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
I want to say at the outset that I certainly do believe in tarring. (Tarring means waiting) The Bible says those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength (Isa. 40:31). Most times, when we are in need, we tend to forget what the scripture says and set out on our own journey. We look to people to assist our needs instead of God because we feel God is not moving fast enough. And every time we do this, we say to God, “I don’t trust You” So how can we say to God I believe in You, but I don’t trust You to keep Your promise. People have disappointed us time and time again, but we still trust them; something is wrong with this picture. How can we continue to trust someone we know will not keep their promise but not wait on the God that will.
Father, give us patience, so we will have the strength to wait on You to answer our call. Teach us how to be still, even in the storms. Because Your timing is always on time, You're never too early or late. So, give us the patience of Job, so we do not walk ahead of You and out of Your protection, in Jesus' name Amen.
Amen
