OUR LOOKS AND OUR CHARACTER

Romans 16:19  For the report of our obedience has reached all; therefore I am rejoicing over you, but I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.  Philippians 2:15 So that we will prove ourselves to be blameless and innocent children of God.   Above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world.  2 Corinthians 1:12 For our proud and confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but the grace of God.  We have conducted ourselves Christ-like in the world, and especially toward you.

If we put as much time into developing our inner character as we build our outward appearance, we would all be more like Christ.  If our character were as crucial as our looks, we would all be true Christians. Our consistency and faith will decide our future when we are called home.

Lord, since we have been justified by grace and faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him, we have also obtained access by faith into His Father's grace; and we rejoice in the peace of God's glory.  More than that, Father, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character. Character makes hope, and hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Lord, continue to help us develop our Christ-like character so that we may act like Christ. Amen.
