HOPE AND HOPELESSNESS WE MUST PICK ONE

Luke 35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” 38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”“Lord, I want to see,” he replied. 42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

We cannot have FAITH and DOUBT at the same time; we must pick one.  We cannot have feelings of HOPE and HOPELESSNESS at the same time; we must pick one.  When we straddle the fence with our beliefs, we hinder our blessings from God.  God want us to be sure of what we believe in because we cannot expect God to answer a prayer we do not believe He will answer.  Jesus responds to OUR Faith the kind of FAITH the blind man had on the side of the road. The blind man believed that Jesus could restore his sight, and He did, our belief and faith are what activate our blessing.

Lord, help us confess our sins and the sins of our ancestors who were wicked and hostile to You.  Father, please forgive us for our continued unfaithfulness and release us from our enemies. Lord, mend our uncircumcised hearts and humble us with Your word.    Father, we understand that we are under Your grace, but we will still pay the consequences of our sins if we do not repent.  Lord, for our sake, remember the covenant with our ancestors whom You brought out of Egypt to be their God.  Praise be to You the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His great mercy through His sacrifice has given us new life and HOPE through His resurrection, Amen
