SALT AND LIGHT

Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and celebrate because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you. 13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its savor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

To know the truth and fail to stand for it, Jesus says, is as senseless as lighting a lamp and putting it under a basket. Just as salt is a preservative that works only when it penetrates into food and becomes useless when contaminated by other chemical substances. It must remain pure to do its job. Jesus says that Christians, likewise, must penetrate society while keeping themselves from being influenced by sin in the world.When the light begins to manifest and direct us in the way to go; we are to enlighten and help reform others, with our testimonies and the Word of God.

Father, fill us with Your wisdom, knowledge, and grace; so Your light will shine through us, for man to see. Lord, let us not be like dead branches of a tree that do not develop fruit; so nourish us with the Word, and fill our temples with Your Spirit.  So it is no longer us that live, but You, who lives in us.   Lord, Let that which is of us, be kept to ourselves, but that which is of You; be brought to the sight of all that needs to see so they will draw near to Thee.  Father, when we witness to Your people, remove all that is not of You, from us; so all the honor and glory come to You, in Jesus name.  Father, let us be seasoned like Salt, so everyone we encounter; develop a sensation for Your Word and a desire to become like Christ, Amen
