LET US PRAY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMMITTED OR CONTEMPLATING SUICIDE

Suicide is becoming the number one killer of our children and some adults. Many who wrestle with suicidal thoughts and tendencies often feel all alone in their struggle. But the truth is, it’s more common than we may think and it’s not a new problem.  Judas, in great despair and guilt after betraying Christ, the burden he carried led him to choose suicide over repentance {Matthew 27:3-4}.  Most reasons for suicide comes from sin, the sin of fear,  made King Saul take his life {1 Samuel 31:3-5}.  The sin of pride and the love of material things has made so many people take their lives, especially money.  But the problems our children deal with the most is hopelessness, loneliness, and abuse.  These are the things we can help with; but, we must be aware of the problem and we accomplish this through communication. We all have times of weakness, pain, and heartaches, but as a child of God, we also have hope and we must make our children aware of this hope.  By introducing them to Christ.

God reminds us in His Word that He will, never waste the pain we struggle through in this life, that overwhelm us.  He will turn it around for our good somehow and use it to strengthen us and to help others. So, if we believe what the Word says, we would call on His name and not consider the easy way out.

Father, the reasons so many people commit suicide is they have no hope or purpose in their lives; because if they did they would not practice this sin in their hearts by considering and committing suicide.  Lord, help us raise our children with self-worth instead of material worth, that keeps us comparing ourselves to others. Let our children open up to us about what is stressing them and help us guide them to You.   Father, we pray a special blessing over those that are being mistreated and bullied and have lost all hope.  Lord, we also pray for those who are committing the act of bullying and mistreatment of Your children or anyone.  Father, all those who have committed suicide, grant them peace from their turmoil and comfort those who they left behind.  Lord, we ask You to strengthen those who are considering taking their lives by giving them hope of a better tomorrow.  Teach us how to detect those in need of help, help us reach out in love, understanding, and kindness to those who prefer death over life.  Father, we understand that the stress of day to day life can become overwhelming; help us reach out to You in these uncertain times, instead of the thought of suicide.  Father, some people worship their material possessions so much, that they would prefer to take their lives than lose something they can not take with them.  Father, draw these lost people close to You so they will get their priorities in order, in Jesus name Amen
