LORD TEACH US HOW TO PRAY

Prayer is vital in our Spiritual walk; we need to pray without ceasing; especially for our children. Luke 5:16 Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.  God want to hear about our troubles that He may comfort us, tell Him our joys, that He may sober them; tell Him our longings, that He may purify them.  Talk to Him about our temptations, that He may shield us from them.  Some cannot thank of things to pray for; but, if we pour out all our weaknesses, needs, troubles, and fears, there will be no lack of what to say.  God is very personal and loves to talk with us about our needs and wants; however some of us do not trust Christ for our salvation, so we remain alienated from Him.  To have an effective prayer life, we must meet the conditions laid down in Word for effectiveness in our prayers. Although the Bible offers a great deal of guidance on how to deepen our communication with God, effective prayer has more to do with the one doing the praying than it does with how we are to pray.

When we go to the Lord in prayer we must have a clean heart and mind. We cannot go to God for comfort when we harbor hate, anger, and unforgiveness in our hearts.  God is love and we must approach Him in love for all, or are prayers will fall on deaf ears. James 4:3 We ask and do not receive because we ask with wrong motives. Proverbs 21:13 We shut our ears to the cry of the poor, will also cry himself and not be answered.  God bless us to bless others; when we have the means to bless others but don’t our prayers will fall on deaf ears. How can we expect mercy from God, when we show no mercy to our brothers and sisters.  If we pray for harm of another or with the wrong motives our prayers will fall on deaf ears; and God will turn an evil prayer back on us.  We must study the Word, for instructions on how to have an effective prayer life; and when we pray use not vain repetitions as the heathen do, just pray from our hearts.

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom comes, on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever Amen
