Sin is something we do every day; Romans 3:23“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. Sometimes we are not aware of it; we commit sin by the things we do or not do, and by the way we think. This is why we need the Word daily because only God can help us live the way we should. Sin is what separates us from God, but once we repent and turn away from our sin, we will be restored to Him.
But, there is an unforgivable sin, like blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. "Matthew 12:31 "Therefore I say to you, any sin shall be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven."
1 John 5:17 All unrighteousness is a sin, but there are sin’s that does not lead to death; “but some sins carry harsh judgment’. For example, there are some sins which are said to be an abomination to the Lord (Prov. 6:16-19). The word “abomination” refers to something which is extremely despised by God. Someone that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord (Prov. 16:5). Pride stems from an attitude of the heart – an attitude of arrogance, superiority, boastfulness. Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord.” (Prov. 12:22). A lying tongue stems from a dishonest heart. People lie for different reasons. Some auto dealers lie to sell automobiles. Some politicians lie to win an election. Some preachers lie to gain wealth. (Rom 16:17,18; 1 Tim 6:3-10). “Shedding innocent blood” is a reference to “murder” God hates the murderer. Homosexuality and those who condone and defend such are an abomination to God and are worthy of death (Rom 1:26-32) Those who have hardened their hearts toward the Lord’s will, and scornfully rejected His Word to commit wickedness brazenly are an abomination to the Lord. (Prov. 3:32; 11:20; 15:8-9). A false witness is a special kind of liar. His lying assists in perverting justice. It is singled out for condemnation by the Lord.
God hates sin and expresses strong disapproval of all who commits it. But, thanks unto God which sent His Son to be the sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:10) Thanks to Jesus sacrifice which gives us the victory over sin when we are obedient to the Word. (1 Cor. 15:57) If we are willing to turn from our sins and repent, God stands ready to forgive us our sins, even our abomination sins. (Acts 17:30; 1 John 1:9)
Lord, help us understand that we cannot continue to live in sin; and expect to receive Your promise, because the Word says we must repent and turn away from sin. Father, give us eyes that see and ears that hear so that we will receive the truth of the Word; and not the false teachings that give people the freedom to sin. Father, we will not let Your Word be destroyed by gossips, false teachings, and talebearers. Lord, do not let men's will destroy Your people; by introducing things that are not authorized by You. Father, give us the courage to speak Your Word in truth, and the strength to endure the resentment that will come. Father, open the hearts and minds of Your people; so they can become Christ-like, and obey Your Word. Lord, we thank You for Your wisdom, and the knowledge to live as we are instructed too, by Your Word. Lord, let us be Your light through our speech and actions. Father, we ask for forgiveness of our sins; the past, present, and future, in Jesus name, Amen
