Our Father does not negotiate with us about what we should or should not do; He wants us to obey His Word as it is written, so for all who live in the flesh will not enter into the kingdom. (Romans 1:5 through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake.) Because obedience to God commands is the actual sign that we love God more than life itself. So you can pray the roof off, preach the house down, or give your last dime to the less fortunate; if you are not obeying God’s Word, you are not saved. Now to know God’s Word we must study daily and pray for the true wisdom and knowledge of His Word. Once we receive the knowledge and wisdom of the Word it helps us become righteous; (Roman 3:22 this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.) Now there will be times that we are weak, and we will fall from grace, but once we repent, ask for forgiveness, and turn away from that sin, we are redeemed. (Romans 3:23 there is no distinction 23 for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,) But once we are forgiven 24 we are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
But for those that continue to live against the Word are carnal, and they do not love or fear the Lord, so they give into their crude desires and appetites of the flesh. Spiritual Christians are under the control of the Holy Spirit, and they will obey God’s Word, but worldly Christians will live as they choose. Sensual people attempts to look good in serving God; there is the temptation to perform certain religious duties rather than to obey God. They attend Church, pay their tithes and do good work, but they will not obey the Word of God. But the Word tells us obedient is greater than sacrifice; they pray and fast, but go on living in sin. We cannot obey what makes us comfortable and expect to enter God’s kingdom. To come into your home, you must abide by the contract or be put out; to enter the Kingdom of God, we must abide by His Word. Luke 13:25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ Repent and turn away from sin or perish, it’s just that simple.
Father, we pray that God, the source of Hope, will fill us completely with joy and peace because we believe in Your promise. If we obey Your Word, we will be given love for You through the power of the Holy Spirit, and that love will give us the strength to obey Your Word. In Jesus name, we pray Amen.
